Nuclear Scientific and Experimental Center with Research Reactor IRT-2000
Bulgarian Government nominated the INRNE as the general operating organisation of the IRT-2000 reactor on 23.01.1997. The main activities of the staff are connected with investigations and work of the different experimental groups from the INRNE and other institutions in the area of:
|
The main building of the Nuclear Scientific and Experimental Center with Research Reactor IRT-2000 of the INRNE
|
- Development of the theoretical and experimental aspects of nuclear power in the country; optimisation of operational regimes and enhancement of nuclear power plants safety level; investigations of the physical and thermo-physical parameters of WWER power reactors and fast neutron reactors
- Training of personnel with high and special education necessary for the design and exploitation of KNPP
- Put into operation and exploitation of gamma-irradiation facilities
- Obtaining of experimental data for the anisotropic effects and neutron-diffusion properties of the space inhomogeneous media; for the neutron reflection coefficients in the reactor moderators, for the photo-fission cross sections of thorium-232, uranium-235 and uranium-238 in the energy interval 6-9 Mev; for the multiplicity of gamma emission in the radiative capture
- Physics of ultra cold neutrons
- Neutron diffraction for investigation of the microstructure parameters of ferrospinels and magnesium-manganese ferrites, and the structure of non-crystal solids - amorphous magnetic materials, tellurite glasses
- Gamma-spectroscopy studies of positron annihilation, angular correlations, mean lifetimes of excited states, dipole and quadrupole momenta
- Development and application of methods for neutron-activation analysis in different areas of science and economy
- Investigation of the impact of mixed neutron-gamma rays on different biological samples
- Application of the radioactive isotopes and nuclear methods, development of radiochemistry, radioisotope production for medicine, biology and different fields of industry and agriculture
- Systematic dosimetry observations showing that no radioactive contamination of the surrounding environment has occurred during the years of operation of the nuclear research reactor IRT-2000 in Sofia;
