The environmental monitoring around the radwaste repositories and other
nuclear facilities; of regions affected by uranium mining and at high mountain
systems; low background measurements of radionuclides in environmental
samples; determination of the radioactive status
The investigation of radionuclide and heavy metal accumulation in sea bed
sediments, their impact on marine ecosystems and the equilibrium transfer
processes along the food chain towards man
The ecological and radiobiological investigations- ecological monitoring
of the environmental pollution with heavy metals; reparation processes
in bacterial cells under electromagnetic and ionization radiation
The creation of forecasting models and expert decision supports for taking
optimal management decisions for development, restoration and protection
of environment for high mountain systems
A complex monitoring (physical, meteorological and hydrological, chemical,
biological and socio-economical) supporting an objective environmental
information and a vast spatial data base for management purposes within
national and regional frame. The work is carried out in collaboration with
other Institutes of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, 3 Bulgarian Universities
and 5 Universities and National Institutes from France
